About the Minerals Council Logo

MCA LogoIn 1995, the Australian Mining Industry Council (AMIC) changed its name to Minerals Council of Australia. This was consistent with the organisation's change in direction which included the adoption of a philosophy of greater consultation with industry, bureaucracy, government and the community at large.

As part of this change the Council adopted a new logo. The AMIC logo of a pick and shovel did not reflect the current high tech nature of today's minerals industry and its global nature.

The inspiration for the new logo came from a diagram of the earth dissected showing the core, the mantle and the crust. It focuses on the lower part of the globe where Australia is situated. As the white lines reduce in weight they give the effect of dynamism reaching towards the rest of the world and into the future.

They are symbolic of a global and progressive industry.
