Japan is a natural economic partner for Australia, and has been Australia's leading export market for nearly 4 decades. REACH is the proposed Regulation of the European Commission for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH). It is the centrepiece of the New Chemicals Policy (NCP). It is designed to be a consolidated chemicals regulation system for the European Union (EU). It will replace 40 pieces of legislation and will require producers, importers and users of chemicals to be responsible for the provision of data and the assessment of risks to support their registration and authorisation for specific use.
