SD05 HomeSD05 demonstrated the depth of the industry’s commitment to the principles of sustainable development and the growing experience and expertise in its implementation at the operational level. The Conference also highlighted the opportunities for companies to differentiate their performance with regulators, the community and the market.
As Mitchell H Hooke, Chief Executive of the MCA indicated in his opening address, “Differentiating sustainable development performance will be the next driver of continuous improvement in the minerals industry”.
This third wave of sustainable development, motivated by performance differentiation at the company level and its linkages to delivering social, environmental and economic dividends, along with the critical role of mutually beneficial relationships, pervaded the Conference sessions.
SD05 achieved its goal of providing a forum for the open exchange of ideas and initiatives, a dialogue with our stakeholders, and an opportunity to learn from each other in order to further develop the minerals industry commitment - ‘People, Place and Prosperity’.
