General Information

Welcome to Alice Springs

Alice Springs was first linked with mining when gold was discovered in the MacDonnell Ranges in the late 1880s.  To this day, Alice Springs still services surrounding mining communities. Mining, along with pastoralism and tourism are the city’s principal industries.

Alice Springs makes an excellent conference location for Australian mining.  The city has much to offer, remaining one of Australia’s premier tourist attractions, with hundreds of thousands of tourists coming from the world over to visit Uluru and Kings Canyon.  A healthy outdoor lifestyle combines with fantastic sports facilities including the world-renowned 18-hole desert golf course.  Alice Springs also hosts a fine performing arts centre, playing host to numerous national and international performers.

Alice has a rich and vibrant cultural history being the home of the Arrernte People. A trip with one of Alice’s numerous Aboriginal cultural tours around town might be well worth the time.  Alice also has a buzzing social scene sure to complement all tastes.

We are very pleased to welcome you to Alice Springs.
