All international visitors are required to hold a valid passport. Visas are required for all nationalities except Australian and New Zealand residents.
Overseas delegates should consult their General Practitioner for advice on possible required vaccination before entering Australia.
Australia is free from many exotic diseases and insect pests occurring elsewhere. Strict quarantine rules apply for the import of animals, packaged foods, plants, fruit, eggs, vegetables, seeds and cultures. All food or animal products must be surrended at the airport on arrival.
Australian currency is decimal with the dollar as the basic unit. Currency exchange facilities are available at banks and major hotels. Diners Club, Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards are accepted in most Australian hotels and restaurants.
Telephone, facsimile and Internet link-up facilities are widely available Australia’s country code is 61 and Alice Springs area code is 8 or (08) if dialling within Australia.
The English language is spoken everywhere in Australia. There will be no interpreter facilities at the Conference.
This practice is not commonly expected in Australia, however tips of up to 10% are a courtesy for highly regarded service in finer quality restaurants and accommodation facilities.
It is recommended that delegates obtain travel and medical insurance. The policy should include loss of fees/deposit through cancellation of participation in the Conference, or cancellation of the Conference itself, loss of airfares, medical expenses, loss of damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements be altered.
Smart Casual attire is recommended for all formal sessions. Outdoors, wear a shady hat, a shirt and sunscreen for protection from the sun.
