VICTORIAN COAL SEAM GAS INQUIRY – MCA SUPPORTS STRONG, SCIENCE-BASED DECISIONS ON CSG

The Minerals Council of Australia, Victorian Division is encouraged by today’s announcement by the Hon Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy and Resources, that a Parliamentary Inquiry will be held into coal seam gas exploration in Victoria.

SUBMISSION TO THE ALRC REVIEW OF THE NATIVE TITLE ACT 1993

The MCA submission to the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) review of the Native Title Act claims determinations process paper highlights industry’s need for certainty and stability in the Native Title system. In responding to the ALRC’s proposed reforms, the MCA queries the lack of empirical evidence on the case for reform as well as the absence of formal consideration of the unintended consequences which may arise from the proposed reforms. This, given the reforms potential to expand the interpretation of many of the Acts existing provisions and to impact on the future act negotiation process.

THE AUSTRALIAN: GREENS CLUELESS ON ENERGY

The Greens and related vested interests argue blithely that fossil fuels can and should be phased out in the next few decades. No thought of the practicality of the goal or consideration of the consequences. No evidence is presented on whether such a transition is possible, or at what cost, including to the world’s poorest people.
