A FRESH LOOK AT NUCLEAR POTENTIAL IN AUSTRALIA?

Several factors have been working over many years to slowly shift public and political attitudes towards a more unbiased consideration of nuclear energy and nuclear fuel cycle activities in Australia.  The strong record of performance by the uranium mining industry has been helping this trend.  This steady change culminated earlier this year in the announcement by the South Australian Government of a Royal Commission into Nuclear Fuel Cycle potential.  The Royal Commission is asking questions of the global nuclear industry and what opportunities and risks are associated with South Australia taking a greater role in the nuclear fuel cycle.  The public response reflects a community with a more open mind, and one that is ready to consider the potential benefits of nuclear energy industries.
