A modern licencing framework for Victoria

While exploration is the lifeblood of minerals development, Victoria's share of total exploration expenditure in Australia has contracted sharply since the 1990s.   Modernising the state's tenure framework could assist to reverse this trend. 

The MCA Victoria, in consultation with current and past explorers, has developed a proposal for a modern tenure framework could improve investor certainty and better reflect Victoria's unique geological characteristics and exploration project timeframes.  Importantly, the proposed framework also includes a mechanism for addressing concerns about land turnover while reducing administrative burden.
