Changes still required to improve workability of Victoria’s native vegetation regulations

The Victorian Government’s review of the state’s native vegetation regulations go part way towards improving the workability of the regulations for the minerals industry.  However significant additional work is required to broaden the range of offset tools available and address outstanding issues regarding administration and application of the regulations.

Submission to Victoria’s Statewide Assessment of Public Land

The Victorian Environmental Assessment Council’s (VEAC) draft proposals paper recommends various steps to streamline land categorisation, improve Crown land information systems and position for development of standard land management regulations. 

With these findings and recommendations as a base, the MCA has urged VEAC to recommend investigation of additional tools, including use of offsets, that may enhance or protect biodiversity, cultural and community values on Crown land.

Infrastructure Victoria must recommend a national approach to energy

Infrastructure Victoria’s strategy for the state must recommend a national approach to energy security, reliability and affordability.
