SUBMISSION IN RESPONSE TO THE APPRENTICESHIPS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY EXPERT PANEL’S FINAL REPORT

The Minerals Council of Australia (MCA) welcomes the opportunity to make a submission in response to the Expert Panel on Apprenticeships for the 21st Century’s Final Report: ‘A shared responsibility’, (the Report) January 2011. The MCA represents Australia’s exploration, mining and minerals processing industry, nationally and internationally, in its contribution to sustainable development and society. MCA member companies produce more than 85 per cent of Australia’s annual mineral output.

MODEL WORK HEALTH AND SAFETY REGULATIONS AND CODES OF PRACTICE

The Minerals Council of Australia, as the peak national body representing the Australian minerals industry has brought together the views of its members and all State/Territory minerals industry bodies in developing this submission.

Proposed Amendments to the Mining Management Act

This letter is in response to proposed changes to the Mining Management Act (the ?MMA? or ?the Act?) which provides the legislative framework for regulating mining activities in the Northern Territory. Given the limited time available to comment on the proposed amendments, this response is based on the summary of proposed changes and it is expected that further opportunity for detailed input will be invited from the Minerals Council of Australia as part of the government?s consultation process.

A Sustainable Population Strategy for Australia

A submission to the Australian Government?s Issues Paper - The Minerals Council of Australia welcomes the opportunity to comment on the Australian Government?s Issues Paper on A Sustainable Population Strategy for Australia released for public comment in December 2010.
