MCA – NT WINS NATIONAL TRAINING AWARD

The Minerals Council of Australia Northern Territory Division and Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education have won the 2012 Australian Training Award for Industry Collaboration.

Australia’s leading integrated construction, mining and services company Thiess, in partnership with the Minerals Council of Australia, the national body representing Australia’s mining and minerals processing industry, invites students from across the country to apply for the Thiess/Minerals Council of Australia Women in Engineering Scholarship.

MCA awards 3 AICD scholarships to women for board studies

The Minerals Council of Australia has awarded three Australian Institute of Company Directors scholarships to women working in the mining industry in order to complete the Company Directors’ Course. The Scholarships are a positive initiative to encourage more female participation on mining company boards.

Today the MCA is releasing a new report commissioned from Port Jackson Partners that gauges the extent of Australia’s costs crisis, the opportunity cost of declining competitiveness and the policies needed to regain Australia’s position as a premier global supplier of minerals. Over recent years, the Minerals Council of Australia has being warning of the structural deficits in our economy that have been masked by historically high terms of trade. As the value drivers of the “mining boom” shift from price-led to volume-led growth, Australia is increasingly vulnerable to competition from resource-rich emerging economies.
