A supplementary submission to the ‘Australian Council of Learned Academies (ACOLA) Review of Australia’s Research Training System’ outlining how industry-relevant research can be delivered and outlines both the essential attributes of successful researchers and the specific skills and capabilities that mining companies require from research graduates.

Submission to the Hazelwood Mine Fire Inquiry (reopened)

The MCA urges the 2015 Board of Inquiry to carefully consider any specific recommendations around rehabilitation and ensure that they are based on international leading practice methods and suitable to the underlying geological and landscape conditions.

Comment on draft information guidelines for advice from the Independent Expert Scientific Committee

The MCA submission on the draft information guidelines for advice from the Independent Expert Scientific Committee (IESC).  The IESC provides advice on water impacts from coal seam gas and large coal mining developments under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act ‘water trigger’ and to state regulators under the National Partnership Agreement.
