Down to Earth is a series of four rich science-based interactive educational resources for Secondary students utilising the Australian minerals industry as a context for self directed learning. 

Undercover

Undercover is the latest addition to the Down to Earth Series where students take on the role of environmental engineer.
They undertake a virtual geology tour and interact with a team of regolith scientists, skilled in using remote sensing techniques.

Note: after downloading, you will need to "extract" the downloaded .zip file to your desktop (your computer may default to a specific downloads area). This may take up to 2 minutes depending on the speed of your computer. Click on Icon called 'Undercover Authorware Runtime Macromedia Inc'.

Rock Back in Time

Rock back in Time Screen

Students become 'Virtual time travellers' as they investigate the evolving geology and environment of the Australian continent over the past 545m years.

Palaeotraveller

Palaeotraveller Screen

'Virtual' time travel enables to view the movement of crustal plates and track the changing location of the Australian continent.  Students can view over 70 images depicting how the landscape of Australia evolved and access information about the changing environments over time.

Metals Matter

Students use a 'virtual metal detector' to discover the metal composition of selected everyday objects around the house.
